On Tuesday December 14, 2021 in Gainesville, FL, Richard Marion Windsor passed away at North Florida Regional Hospital after a long illness. Richard (Dick) was born to Virginia McLeran Windsor on December 12, 1944. in Wellborn, FL. Dick graduated from Gainesville High School in 1962. He attended the University of Florida for four years in the mid to late 1960’s during which he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity as well as a member of the Army National Guard. During breaks in education, Dick traveled and worked in New York (Lake Placid), New Jersey (ski resort), New Orleans (Mississippi River barge Deckhand), and other single jobs away from Gainesville. After pursuing a BA degree, he spent the rest of his working years in a variety of locations in the United States, but the bulk of those years were in Gainesville, FL. He was preceded in death by Virginia McLeran Windsor (Mother), Thurston B. McLeran (maternal Grandfather), and Marion L. McLeran (maternal Grandmother) and several much loved aunts & uncles. Dick is survived by his children: Dane L. Windsor (Kim) and Erica M. Jones (Brian) and his siblings: Ernest Windsor (Carole), Mark Windsor (Tracy), V. Jane Windsor, and four grandchildren. Dick will always be remembered by his siblings as adventurous, bold, fearless, resourceful, and a superb marketer. At a date and place yet to be determined, a gathering of family and close friends will be held to celebrate Richard Marion Windsor’s life.
