Penny Virginia Guy 69, died on December 7, 2013 in Marion, Illinois. She was born August 22, 1944 in Schenectady, New York to Albert and Mary Guy. She was also nurtured by Nellie Guy, her paternal grandmother.
While living on the farm in Lafayette, Indiana, Penny became proficient at riding and jumping horses.
She spent a year touring Europe including Germany and Russia with her family during 1958/59.
She graduated from Gainesville High School, with honors, in 1962. She majored in Russian and Biology in college, and eventually studied nursing, completing her LPN in 1976 and RN in 1988. She specialized in geriatric care, helping the elderly stay in their homes.
Penny was a devoted follower of Baba Muktananda and Gurumayi Chidvilasananda and the teachings of SYDA Yoga meditation. She lived happily for many years in the SYDA Yoga Ashram in South Fallsburg, New York. She made a visit to Ganeshpuri, India in connection with these studies. She actively supported SYDA Yoga centers in Gainesville, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston and South Fallsburg.
Penny is survived by her sister Nancy Tomaski of Gainesville, her niece Amy Barber-Biewald of Everett, Massachusetts, her many cousins, and her uncle Jon Nelson of Placerville, California.
