Mary Anne (Nelson) Cobb was born July 26, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama, the oldest of two children to A T and Clarice Nelson.

The summer prior to her graduation from Gainesville High School in 1962, she married James Kenneth Cobb in August 1961. He asked her out for a date the Christmas before when she was working a gift-wrapping booth in front of Kenney’s Shoes at the Gainesville Shopping Center. In their later years they become active in the Bronson Road Church.

After high school Mary worked as a Medical Executive Assistant. In 1967 she helped open the Malcom Randall Medical Center with Mr Randall and later worked in the private offices of Dr George Little and Dr Betsy Beers.

She loved her family, church and community. She was an active supporter of her sons’ high school activities of football and band. Her favorite hobby was shopping for deals; if you couldn’t find her at the mall, just go check the clearance racks!

Mary Anne passed away on August 22, 2023. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Milam Chapel in Newberry, FL. Saturday would have been 52nd wedding anniversary.

She was preceded by her husband, James Kenneth Cobb, Sr in 2017.

She is survived by her brother, Steve Nelson; children Kenny Jr. and his wife Elaine, and Craig and his husband Neil; grandchildren Biven, Tyler, and Brittany; and great-grandchild Hunter.
