REMBERT,

JUDITH ABBOT CREIGHTON

Judi, who lived a full and giving life, passed quietly at Haven Hospice early Friday morning, July 21, 2017. She was born in Gainesville on November 29, 1943. As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend, she grew up and lived in the Gainesville area most of her entire life. Judi and Davis, her beloved husband of 57 years, were also best friends and business partners, gaining wisdom as they traveled, wide-eyed throughout the world.

All who knew Judi were well aware of her generosity in giving of herself to others: member of the Jr. League of Gainesville; active participant in the Stephen Ministries at Trinity United Methodist Church; leader in UYO [Understanding Yourself and Others], many mission trips to Honduras, Guatemala and Peru; hostess, Haven Hospice VIVA events; recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award from Rotary International, the E.T. York 'Service Above Self Award' from the Rotary Club of Gainesville; the 2011 Gainesville Legacy Award; and the 2009 Jay Kirkpatrick Good Samaritan Award.

She was a graduate of Gainesville High School, an honorary alumna of the University of Florida; graduate of French Fashion Academy in New York, and a real estate broker in Gainesville. She was vice-president of United Fuels Corp and Sprint Food Stores. She had a great love of cooking while creating new dishes. Judi was a talented artist and created many beautiful paint-ings. She never met a stranger. True hostess with the mostest. A true southern belle. And, did she ever love her garden in North Carolina!

She is survived by her husband, Davis M. Rembert, Jr.; and their three children, Mary Lanier Rembert, Ken (Belinda) Rembert, Jonathan Rembert and Thomas (Nancy) Rembert, Davis' brother; siblings include, Carol Creighton Hadley, Sandy (Elizabeth) Creighton and Marnie (Jerry) Creighton Felder; and brother-in-law, Barton (In Cha) Rembert. Also survived by her grandchildren, Will Rembert, Davis Rembert, Brianna Rembert, Emma Rembert, Zander Rembert and their mother, Lavonne Rembert. Survivors also include many nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.

The Rembert family wishes to express a most special gratitude and thanks to all Judi's loving caregivers: Gloria Mells, Ella Ramsey, Cathy Cannon, Betty Fleming, and Corky Cheshire.
