Donna Faxon Gillis, 72, of Newberry passed into her eternal life on Friday, April 14, 2017 in Gainesville.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29 at the Newberry Church of Christ, 25045 West Newberry Road, Newberry FL (352-727-1943).
Donna was born November 2, 1944 in Jacksonville, FL and was a retired educator, having lived and worked most of her life as an elementary school teacher and a post secondary education administrator in the Gainesville and Tallahassee areas. She was a life long, devoted member of the Church of Christ. She was kindhearted, generous and loving to her family and friends, had a passion for politics, was exceptionally talented in music and art, and held great love for her many dogs through the years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wm. Douglas Faxon and Bessie Cooper Faxon, her sister Dorothy Faxon Waters, and her brother Wm. Elliot Faxon. She leaves to cherish her memories, her niece Suzanne Ford Adams (John), Tallahassee and nephew Leland Douglas Waters (Melanie), Ocala, 5 great nieces and nephews, 10 great grand nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions would be welcomed to the Mandy Dennard Memorial Educational Scholarship Fund, Church of Christ, 3569 Timberlane School Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312 or to a charity of donor's choice.
