UPSHAW, SHIRLEY J.
Mrs. Shirley Jeanette Upshaw, 65, resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, in the Shands at Alachua General Hospital, following a long illness.
Shirley was born July 6, 1944, in Pavo, Georgia, and lived most of her life in Gainesville. She graduated from Gainesville High School, Class of 1962, she went on to work for many years for the Florida Highway Patrol. She attended the Highland Missionary Baptist Church. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Floye Morgan Jordan. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother who always did more for others, rather than herself.
Survivors include; her husband, Jimmy D. Upshaw; One Daughter, Dana (Randy) Taylor; Two grandchildren, Brooke and Logan Taylor; her Father, Elbert Jordan, ; two brothers, Johnny Jordan and Ricky Jordan, all of Gainesville; One sister, Faye (Jim) Glass, of Alachua. Three nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 1, 2009, from 2 to 4 P. M., at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home, 404 North Main Street. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of North Central Florida, 4200 NW 90t
